Progress: #19. Get married

The natural fusion of being both thrifty and crafty is all things DIY. I like my DIY to have an outlet, so I'm pretty excited about my wedding planning. Sharing things, to me, makes them feel more real -- so you're inevitably going to be subject to my plans.

DIY #1: Missed My Calling As An iTunes DJ.

I am madly excited to share with you my ultimate wedding dance party playlist. I am not normally a dancer -- nor do I often have the desire to dance. However, 50% of the songs on this list challenge that general notion and, as such, my inclination to stay seated.

I've tried to consider my audience. I have imagined busting a move on the dance floor with my ma and my little sis (who are much better and more willing dancers than I). I have considered my country roots, my indie-folk love, my 90s hip hop fiancĂ©, my mainstream radio pop friends (no BSB, though, because the vitriol is strong in this one #sorrynotsorry).

Honestly, though, most of this playlist reminds me of all the best moments with my two sisters, blaring and rapping silly songs on road trips, bar hopping when we were young and dumb and more energized than today, and engaging in impromptu kitchen dance parties with paper Santa beards and serious discussions about Clipse lyrics.

It fills me with good feelings I can't even fully describe.

It is for this reason more than any that I've said no thanks to a DJ, in favour of hitting "play". This is a love letter to my sisters, almost more than to my to-be husband. (His love letter will be in my walking-down-the-aisle tune and our first dance song.)

I've spent a lot of time considering music blogs on wedding playlists. One of the best pieces of advice I received was that no one, unless under the influence of E, is going to want to dance for three hours straight, so back-to-back-to-back-to-back hits isn't necessary; input songs that deescalate to allow for drink and bathroom breaks. If you know me well enough, you know that mixes are sort of my thang (I've probably even made you one that has been collecting dust since), so fading song into song on a large scale was BOMB.

I've had so much fun and I'm looking forward to dancing with you on Saturday, April 13, 2019.
